Heavenly a la Eni

My dearest friend gave me this Murano cabochon to make her a ring, I was so afraid to brake it when setting it that I decided to do it "wire wrapped", some how I though that it was impossible to get a good grip of a cabochon with wire, I was soo wrong this cabochon is not falling.

So, inspired on Eni Oken and Deliasstone style I made this ring, It was a total success, my friend loved it, so I wanted to share it with you and I have to say, this technique is so much fun, once you get a hand on it you can grab about anything.

Cloisonné, an ancient art.

This is what I've been learning lately, the art of cloisonne enamel. Here where I live they have been doing it for centuries. All started as religious icons, but today they also make fashion and decorative pieces.

The divider walls are 1mm high and 0.08 mm wide made of fine silver not to alter the colors of the enamel, this walls then are soldered (yes soldered) to the base of the piece and then you apply the enamel by layers, melting it with a torch (you can use an oven too... if you have one).

You finish up by sanding it with 6 different sizes of sand paper until it gets its luster. This earrings are the only ones I haven't damage in the process, so yay, I did it!!!!

Ring fever!

I have been working a lot lately, I have a ring fever! I think after earrings, rings are the most important accessory. Nothing better than a big ring worn alone letting it say a lot about you.
I finished those over the weekend, a lot of ideas are flowing in my head so I'll better go back to ...you know...work!
